Producer Categories/Codes are used to further classify Producers for reporting and tracking purposes. The Fiber System allows you to define an unlimited number of user-defined Producer categories with an unlimited number of user-defined codes for each category. Examples of Producer Categories and Codes are shown below:
Categories Codes
Production Capabilities High, Medium, Low
Region Region 1, Region 2, Region 3
To access the Producer Categories list window, select the menu option entitled Producer Categories on the Fiber Procurement Control Files Menu.
The Producer Categories List window, will be displayed as follows:
The system defaults to displaying only the active Producer Categories. To display the inactive, or both the active and inactive Producer Categories, click on the drop-down box arrow located at the upper right corner of the window.
Cycle Box
To remain in the add mode without returning to the Producer Categories list window each time you add a new Category, check the cycle box. To enter a check in the box, click on the Cycle box, press “Alt Y”, or press the Space Bar when the selection box is positioned over the “cycle” field. You would normally check the cycle box if you are entering more than one Producer Category during the current session.
To access online help, click on the Help button, press “Alt H”, or F1.
To exit the Producer Categories list window, click on Close button, press “Alt O”, or press the Esc key.
Producer Categories Maintenance
To add a new Producer Category, click on the Add button, press “Alt A”, or press the Insert key.
To edit an existing Producer Category, highlight the desired category and click on the Edit button, press “Alt E”, or press Enter.
When you add a new Producer Category, the system will display the Producer Category window as follows:
Enter or edit the information on the Producer Category window according to the following specifications:
Code
The code is a two-character field used to identify the Producer Category within the system. The system does not allow the entry of duplicate Producer Categories.
Description
Enter up to thirty-characters to describe the Producer Category.
Require On Entry
Enter a check in the box if the producer category should be required when entering a new producer. If the producer category should not be required when entering a new producer, leave the box unchecked. To enter a check in the box, click on the Require on Entry box, or press “Alt R”, or press the Space Bar when the selection box is positioned over the Require on Entry field.
Status
Select the active box if the Producer Category is active, or select the inactive box if the Producer Category is not active. The system defaults to displaying only the active Producer Categories on the selection list.
To save and exit the Producer Category window, press Page Down, click on the OK button, or press “Alt O”. To exit without saving the Producer Category window, click on the Cancel button, press “Alt C”, press Esc, or click on the “X” in the upper right corner of the screen. You must save this window before attempting to define the codes for the category. If so, click on the “Codes” button to enter/edit the Producer codes information.
To access online help, click on the Help button, press “Alt H”, or F1.
To enter or edit the Producer Codes information, click the Codes button, or press “Alt C”.
The system will display the Producer Category Codes List window as follows:

Status
Select the active box if the Producer Category Code is active, or select the inactive box if the Producer Category Code is not active. The system defaults to displaying only the active Producer Category Codes on the selection list.
