Tract Categories/Codes

Tract Categories/Codes are used to further classify tracts for reporting and tracking purposes.  Fiber Procurement allows you to define an unlimited number of user-defined tract categories with an unlimited number of user-defined codes for each category.  Examples of Tract Categories and Codes are shown below:

 

Categories         Codes

Accessibility       Average, Bad, Good

Harvest Type     Clear Cut, Thinning

Operability         Dry, Moderate, Wet

 

To access the Tract Categories list window, select the menu option entitled Tract Categories on the Fiber Procurement Control Files Menu.

 

The Tract Categories list window, will be displayed as follows:

 

The system defaults to displaying only the active Tract Categories.  To display the inactive, or both the active and inactive Tract Categories, click on the drop-down box arrow located at the upper right corner of the window.

 

Cycle Box

To remain in the add mode without returning to the Tract Categories list window each time you add a new Category, check the cycle box.  To enter a check in the box, click on the Cycle box, press “Alt Y”, or press the Space Bar when the selection box is positioned over the “cycle” field.  You would normally check the cycle box if you are entering more than one Tract Category during the current session.

 

To access online help, click on the Help button, press “Alt H”, or F1.

 

To exit the Tract Categories list window, click on Close button, press “Alt O”, or press the Esc key.

 

Tract Category Maintenance

To add a new Tract Category, click on the Add button, press “Alt A”, or press the Insert key.

 

To edit an existing Tract Category, highlight the desired category and click on the Edit button, press “Alt E”, or press Enter.  

 

When you add a new Tract Category, the system will display the Tract Category window as follows:

 

Enter or edit the information on the Tract Categories window according to the following specifications:

 

Code

The code is a two-character field used to identify the Tract Category within the system.   The system does not allow the entry of duplicate Tract Category codes.  

 

Description

Enter up to thirty-characters to describe the Tract Category.

 

Require on Entry

Enter a check in the box if the tract category should be required when entering a new tract.  If the tract category should not be required when entering a new tract, leave the box unchecked.  To enter a check in the box, click on the Require on Entry box, or press “Alt R”, or press the Space Bar when the selection box is positioned over the Require on Entry field.

 

Status

Select the active box if the Tract Category is active, or select the inactive box if the Tract Category is inactive.  The system defaults to displaying only the active Tract Categories on the selection list.

 

To save and exit the Tract Category window, press Page Down, click on the OK button, or press “Alt O”.   To exit without saving the Tract Category window, click on the Cancel button, press “Alt C”, press Esc, or click on the “X” in the upper right corner of the screen.  You must save this window before attempting to define the codes for the category.  If so, click on the “Codes” button to enter/edit the tract codes information.

 

To access online help, click on the Help button, press “Alt H”, or F1.

 

To enter or edit the Tract Codes information, click the Codes button, or press “Alt C”.

 

The system will display the Tract Codes list window as follows:

 

The system defaults to displaying only the active Tract Codes.  To display the inactive, or both the active and inactive Tract Codes, click on the drop-down box arrow located at the upper right corner of the window.

 

Cycle Box

Tract Codes Maintenance

To add a new tract category code, click on the Add button, press “Alt A”, or press the Insert key.

Default Category Code?

Enter a check in the box if the code should be used as the default category code on the tract when the category is selected.  If you do not want the code to be the default, leave the box unchecked.  To enter a check in the box, click on the Default Category Code? box, or press “Alt E”, or press the Space Bar when the selection box is positioned over the Default Category Code? field.

 

Status

Select the active box if the Tract Category Code is active, or select the inactive box if the Tract Category Code is not active.  The system defaults to displaying only the active Tract Category Codes on the selection list.

 

To save and exit the Category Code window, press Page Down, click on the OK button, or press “Alt O”.   To exit without saving the Category Code window, click on the Cancel button, press “Alt C”, press Esc, or click on the “X” in the upper right corner of the screen.
